Information about the Celal Bayar University School of Physical Education and Sports

Celal Bayar University was founded on 03.07.1992 with the Law no. 3837 with three departments, one of which includes The School of Physical Education and Sports.  It is the first higher education school of Manisa. It is currently ranked as the no 5 School of Physical Education and Sports with its 5 departments, 1647 students and 52 instructors (3 professors, 7 associate professors, 19 assistant professors, 12 instructors and 11 research assistants).

Our school possesses nationally and internationally recognized instructors with credits from Sports Federations as directors, coaches, athletes and referees.  In addition to our instructors, the school also possesses many students who participate in national teams of various sports. 

The school is built as a complete sports campus including an Athletics Field, a Gymnastics Hall, Swimming Pools, Football Courts of various sizes, a Drama Hall, a Dancing Hall, a Massage Therapy Hall, Tennis Courts, Multiple purpose Gyms, a Martial Arts Hall, a Climbing Wall, a Fitness Gym, a Dining hall, dormitories and social facilities.

The School offers various programs that support academic and personal development:

·         Double Major Program: Accepted by being published in the Official Gazette on April 24, 2010 and by Law no: 27561, The Double Major Program has 56 students and 13 graduates.

·         Erasmus Program: The Celal Bayar University School of Physical Education and Sports joined the Erasmus Program with agreements of schools in Romania and Portugal.  In addition, Lithuanian Kaunas University, Lithuanian Klepedia University and Romanian Bucharest Sports University were included to the program which allowed the exchange of students, faculty and personnel.

·         Farabi Program: The Celal Bayar University School of Physical Education and Sports joined the Farabi Program in the year 2011 with the Law no. 2547 of Higher Education and Budget Law of the year 2009.  The program provided various students exchanges.

·         Bologna Program: The school joined the Bologna Program in 2010. Since then, regular or higher education students from The Celal Bayar University School of Physical Education and Sports have international validity for their diplomas or the transcripts.

·         Mevlana Program: Being published in the Official Gazette on August 23, 2011 with no 28034, The Celal Bayar University School of Physical Education and Sports joined the Mevlana Student Exchange Program.  The program has not provided any students exchanges so far.

School of Physical Education and Sport

School of Physical Education and Sports was settled down as a Military Combat School in 1959. Then, it had been served as Training Camp Facility for Turkish National teams from 1970 to 1974. Manisa Physical Education and Sports Academy was founded in 1974. It was one of the oldest Sports Academy of Turkey. Between the years of 1982 and 1992, it had been conjoined to 9 Eylül University. Finally, Manisa Sports Academy has been connected to Celal Bayar University right after it was founded in 1992. Then it evolved from Sports academy to School of Physical Education and Sports.


School of Physical Education and Sports (P.E.S.) offers Undergraduate education, Master of Science and Philosophy of Doctorate degrees in physical education and sport. Trainer Education, Sports Managements departments.
